Do You Have The Time?It was a typical day at North Newton High School. An empty travel mug sat on the corner of my chipped desk after I had sucked it dry of its beautiful, caffeine-filled nectar. I chewed slowly at the mint-flavored gum, hoping to rid myself of the overpowering stale coffee breath that had risen to my mouth. I was never one who enjoyed school much. The daily ritual of classes to me was like being trapped in a white-walled prison cell with "Math…you can count on it!" posters hanging from the plywood walls. But according to the apathetic math teacher at the front of the room, this particular day would beDo You Have The Time?

Green trees and big white houses ran by as I sunk my chin into the palm of my hand.
"You think that jumping in front of a lawn mower would be enough to kill me?" I muttered as we drove by a chubby man who sat atop of an over-sized machine and grazed along a big green lawn without having to move a muscle. It looked just like a little car.
"Regina, you are so dramatic." My mother replied in a hushed tone. Little did she know I got my dramatic streak from her, along with her dark red hair and crooked smile.

Ice CubesI watched the ice cubes in my drink slowly melt. One by one, each small piece of ice became one with the rest of the rum and coke I held in my hand. I was honestly bored, and was finding myself to be strangely amused by this. Of course at this point, I was no longer drinking the watered-down concoction; I was simply watching and becoming slowly hypnotized in the process. As the tiny beads of amusing perspiration began loosing their grip and falling to the ground, a drunken college student smacked all three-hundred pounds of himself on my shoulder, causing me to spill the only entertainment I had that night.Ice Cubes
